I am a Melbourne author drawn to the historical figures who connected Asia and the wider world.
My latest book, On The Beaten Track, tells the story of George Ernest Morrison's quiet journey across southwest China in 1894. Morrison went on to become The Times of London’s correspondent in Beijing and a confidant of China’s first president, Yuan Shikai.
I also write bilingual field notes (English/中文) on the stories, letters and lost footprints of Asia's early connections with the wider world.
